Neoliberalism, Globalization and Social Philosophy

Abstract
This paper shows first that the Utopia, which is nothing but an imaginary representation of a society in which the secular humanist ideal of a free and autonomous personality would have been accomplished, is unfeasible and unnecessary as a directional criterion for the criticism of the globalization process. It introduces in the second part a philosophical conception that acknowledges the nomic character of the world (its subjection to natural laws and norms ofdifferent types), in order to show that the world-integration process is driven by such character, albeit distorted by a relative disobedience to it. lt concludes with an appraisal of such process, but also with the claim that a redirection of the process through a more balanced and fair path demands the enforcement of certain laws of historical development.
