The Spirit Lost in Translation

Abstract

The text undertakes a critical evaluation of the new Spanish translation of Hegel’s Phenomenology of the Spirit, by Manuel Jiménez Redondo. The guiding suggestion is that this translation turns out to be a personal version of the Hegelian text, rather than a critical one. The main reason for this lies in the unrestrained use of such editorial resources as the gloss and the notes.
