Abstract
In this text I comment on several points of the essays that my colleagues José Lasaga, Pedro Stepanenko, and Josué Cisneros wrote about my book El sentido de la filosofía. Estudios sobre José Gaos, and I give answers to the questions they formulated in them. These comments and answers clarify some issues related to the points of view expressed in the book and in particular to the interpretations found in it on the role of phenomenology and metaphysics in the thought and work of José Gaos. I also deal with other more personal matters that have to do with my way of assessing Gaos’ philosophical position and my way of assuming the editorial project of his Complete Works in comparison with that of their first editor, Fernando Salmerón.
