Abstract

There were two important turns in Ibero-American philosophy of the last century. On the one hand, there was a movement that attempted to make it more professional. On the other hand, there was a movement that attempted to make it more coherent with its social and cultural circumstance. The philosophy of José Gaos is a paradigmatic example of both philosophical turns. In it we can find the dilemmas of Ibero-American philosophy that still need to be solved.
