La materia de la apariencia contra el fenomenalismo en Kant

Resumen
Examinamos la interpretación fenomenalista de Michael Oberst del idealismo trascendental de Kant según la cual todos los juicios epistémicos sobre la apariencia (Erscheinung) pueden reducirse a juicios epistémicoas sobre contenidos mentales. Para sustentar tal reducción, Oberst sostiene la necesidad de que la cosa en sí exista como fundamento no mental de la experiencia. Argumentamos en contra de esto que no es preciso postular la cosa en sí para explicar la presencia de un elemento semejante. A partir de la distinción kantiana entre forma y materia de la apariencia justificamos en contra de esto que, por su carácter sensible e independiente de la subjetividad, la materia basta para dar cuenta de ese factor no subjetivo que evita el idealismo empírico. Esto permite invalidar la dimensión epistemológica del fenomenalismo de Oberst, a la vez que se presenta como una lectura más ajustada al proyecto crítico kantiano de la cosa en sí y de la materia de la apariencia.
